An Early 18th Century French “Regence” Period Gilt Mirror. Detailed carving to resemble repousee silver, the more common and expensive frame material for mirrors of this period and type. Simple arched top retaining the original water gilded surface and the original mirror plate. Made in the South of France circa 1730.

19th Century “Ottoman Style” Syrian Mirror. Frame made of walnut with inlaid mother of pearl, silver, ebony, and ivory surmounted with an intricately fretted arched crest. Made in Syria circa 1870.

A Fine 18th Century Venetian Carved Giltwood Mirror. The shaped plate contained within a molded cartouche- shaped frame, carved with ’C’-scrolls, flowers, and foliage beneath an elaborately carved leaf cresting. The sides similarly carved with shells, flowers, and foliage, all retaining the original water- gilded finish. Venice circa 1760.

Extremely rare, framed in pine, with a convex cushion molding shaped with scrolls beneath a scalloped cresting. The whole is japanned with gilded chinoiserie decoration in a symmetrical manner. The mirror plates are original with hand cut bevelled edges. The great majority of japanned of lacquered examples were carried out in black. The deep scarlet used here is very rare. Made in England circa 1705.

A Fine and Rare 18th Century Italian Neoclassical Giltwood Mirror. The rectangular carved frame surmounted with a cresting centered by an urn with flowers and scrolling foliage. The sides with carved scrolling leaves and two smaller urns with flowers on acanthus leaf carved feet. Made in Tuscany circa 1780.
